Running your first scouting report
A scouting report is the core of VeriScout: you give us a player and the role you are recruiting for, and we return a verified career record plus a program-specific assessment. Here is the whole flow, start to finish.
Before you start
Check that your program is registered correctly under Settings → Profile — your school, association (NCAA D1, D2, D3, NAIA, NJCAA) and level. The Match Score is calculated against your program, so if this is wrong, the headline number is wrong.
Step 1 — Start a new report
From your Dashboard, click New Scouting Report.
Step 2 — Find the player
Type the player's name and pick them from the dropdown. A few things that make searches land:
- Search the full name where you can — first name plus surname beats surname alone.
- Accents and special characters (ø, æ, å, ó, š) are handled, so type the name however you have it.
- Always pick the player from the dropdown rather than pressing enter on free text — that is how you confirm you have the right person and not a namesake.

Step 3 — Choose the position you are recruiting for
This is the position you need filled, not necessarily the position the player lists. If you are looking at a wide midfielder as a full-back, choose full-back — the report is then built against that role. You can run the same player again later for a different position.
Step 4 — Choose the recruiting class
Pick the season you are recruiting this player for (for example Fall 2027). This sets the age and eligibility context the report is judged in, and it is what the player's card is filed under on your Recruiting Board.
Step 5 — Generate the report
Click generate. Your report is built in about 10–15 seconds — there is no queue and no waiting for a human analyst. It is then kept in Report History for 12 months, so you can come back to it without re-running anything.
Is there a limit on how many reports I can run?
No. If your subscription covers the player's country, you can generate as many reports as you like — there are no credits, no per-report charges, and no monthly allowance to ration. Run one on every name you are curious about.
What to do with the report
- Read the five circles first. The big centre number is the player's fit with your program; the four around it are Form, Trajectory, Consistency and Reliability. See Reading a VeriScout report.
- Save the player to your Recruiting Board if they are worth tracking. Click Save to Recruiting Board on the report. Your whole staff sees the same board, and every report re-generates automatically every 14 days, so the information stays current without you re-running anything.
Troubleshooting
Player not found
First check the country selection — search runs inside one country at a time, and the wrong country is the most common reason a search comes back empty. Then check the spelling against the club's official squad page. If the player is very young, recently moved clubs, or plays in a country we have not indexed yet, they may not be in the database — contact us and we will tell you whether the country is on the roadmap. The report is blurred
That player's country is not part of your subscription. You can search every country in the database, but reports outside your bundles stay blurred until you add the relevant bundle to your plan. See Bundles & country coverage.
I picked the wrong player or the wrong position
Just run the report again with the right selection — re-runs are free, like every other report in a country you subscribe to. Both reports stay in Report History; the newer one carries the later date. Running the same player at a second position is a perfectly normal thing to do.
