Your first week with VeriScout
A short plan for getting genuinely useful in a few sittings, rather than clicking around and hoping. None of it costs anything — reports are unlimited within the countries you subscribe to.
1 · Check your program details
Open Settings and confirm your school, association and tier. Every Match Score is calculated against them, so this is five minutes that protects everything you do afterwards. Tier is calculated by us and cannot be edited — if it looks wrong, tell us before you go further. See My program details are wrong.
2 · Run a report on a player you already know
The most valuable first search is not a new name. Pick a player you know well — one of your own internationals, or someone you recruited and passed on — and read what VeriScout says about them.
You will learn more from that one report than from ten reports on strangers, because you can check the output against what you already believe. It calibrates how you read the circles, and it tells you fast whether an 87 means what you think it means.
3 · Read one report properly, top to bottom
Once, slowly: the five circles, then Level Fit, then the Tier Match Overview, then the Development Path, then the comparable alumni. After that you will be reading reports in thirty seconds for the rest of the season. See Reading a VeriScout report.
4 · Board five to ten players
Run reports on the names already on your list and save the ones worth tracking. The board becomes useful the moment it has enough players to compare against each other — one saved player is a bookmark, ten is a shortlist.
Then open Field view. Seeing your targets on a pitch is usually the moment a staff notices which position nobody has covered.
5 · Test a country you do not normally recruit
Your bundles cover more than the one or two countries you have contacts in. Run a few reports somewhere unfamiliar — the tier column and the comparable alumni are what make a country you have never scouted readable. This is where VeriScout tends to earn its keep.
6 · Bring your staff in
Invite your assistants from Settings. It costs nothing extra, the board is shared, and Staff view only means something once more than one person is using it. Agree who owns which countries or position groups. See Working as a staff.
Then leave it alone
Reports re-generate every 14 days, so your board stays current without maintenance. Check it before staff meetings, add players as names come in, and let the record update itself.
Two habits worth forming
- Board early, board wide. Saving is free. The board is your working shortlist, not your final list.
- Read Form and Trajectory as a pair. The gap between them is where most misjudgments of international players live.
