Level Fit and the Tier Match Overview
Under the five circles sits an expandable section: "See your level fit and fit across all associations and tiers." It contains the two views that turn a single match score into a map.
Level Fit — your association
A strip of five tiers, E through A, for your association. Each carries a label — "Excellent level fit", "Strong level fit" — and your program's tier is marked with its exact percentage.
It answers a narrower question than the match score: within my division, across the range of programs, where does this player comfortably belong, and am I at the easy end of that range or the demanding end?
Read the shape, not just your own cell. A player who reads "Excellent" from tier E up to B and "Strong" at tier A is a safe bet nearly everywhere in your division and a stretch at the very top of it. A stretch is not a mistake — it is a player who will have to grow into the environment, which is a coaching decision rather than a data one.
Tier Match Overview — the whole landscape
The 5×5 grid asks the same question everywhere at once: every tier A–E against every association — NCAA D1, D2, D3, NAIA, NJCAA. Your association is marked YOU. The outlined cell is the tier the player's profile was originally calibrated against.
Cells read on a seven-band scale:
- Excellent fit — 90+
- Strong fit — 80–90
- Solid fit — 70–80
- Borderline fit — 60–70
- Below expected — 50–60
- Poor fit — under 50
Three ways coaches use the grid
- Sanity-check your own number. If the grid is full of nineties and your cell is in the eighties, that is not a warning about the player — it means your program is the most demanding environment on the board for them.
- Know your competition. A player who fits excellently almost everywhere will be hearing from many programs. A player whose strong fits are concentrated in one association may be yours to take.
- Find the honest conversation. When a player is a stretch for you, the grid shows where they clearly do fit. That is useful when a recruitment ends without a signing — you can tell a family something true and specific.
What the percentages are built on
Each cell projects how this player would fare if they joined a program in that association at that tier, based on alumni with similar trajectories who made the same move. It is the same evidence as the comparable players section, sliced by destination.
How much weight the whole grid deserves is what the Confidence badge on this card is telling you. A grid of high numbers with a Low confidence band is a thinner claim than the same grid at Very High.
