When you think the record is wrong

Source records occasionally carry errors, and we would rather hear about it than have you quietly stop trusting the reports. Here is what to look for and what to send us.

Things that are worth reporting

  • A missing season or club. You know the player spent a year somewhere that does not appear in the Development Path.
  • Appearances that look wrong. Starts or appearances that do not match what the club published.
  • A mixed-up player. Two players with the same name whose records appear to have merged, or a record that clearly belongs to someone else.
  • A competition on the wrong rung. A tier letter that does not reflect where that competition actually sits in its country.
  • A duplicated fixture — the same match appearing twice.

Things that are not errors

  • A gap with no explanation. We show absences; we never state why. That is deliberate — see What VeriScout doesn't measure.
  • A very recent match not showing yet. Official records lag the final whistle, and reports refresh every 14 days. See How current is the data.
  • A score that changed. The record is live; the scores move with it.
  • A grey or missing circle. That is the system declining to guess. See Why is a circle grey or missing?
  • One season on two rows. Normal when a league splits into a group stage and a promotion or qualification round.

What to send us

Email hello@veri-scout.com with:

  • The player's name and country
  • The season and competition in question
  • What the report shows, and what you believe is correct
  • Where your information comes from — a club squad page or an official league page is ideal

That last one matters. A correction we can trace to an official source is one we can make quickly and safely; a correction based on someone's recollection is one we have to go and verify ourselves.

What happens next

We check it against the source record. If the source is wrong, we take it up with the source; if our handling of it is wrong, we fix it. Either way we will tell you what we found — including when the answer is "the official record really does say this", which happens more often than you might expect.

Reporting an error costs you nothing and helps every coach looking at that player. It is one of the more useful things a customer can do for us.
