Why do two coaches see different scores?

You and a coach at another program open the same player and see different Match Scores. Both numbers are right.

The Match Score is about a transition, not a player

It answers "how likely is this player to succeed at your program" — not "how good is this player". A rating of the player alone would be the same everywhere and would tell you very little, because the question that decides a recruitment is fit, not talent in the abstract.

So the number is calculated against your program's association and its tier. Change the program, and the question changes with it.

What that looks like in practice

A player might read in the high eighties for a strong NCAA D1 program and in the high nineties for an NAIA program. That is one player who would be a solid contributor in the first environment and an immediate difference-maker in the second. Both programs are being told something useful and neither is being told the other's answer.

The four circles around the Match Score — Form, Trajectory, Consistency, Reliability — are identical for every coach. They describe the player's own record, so they do not move from program to program. Only the centre number is personalised.

Seeing the full picture

Open the Tier Match Overview grid on any report and you can see every version of the number at once: the same player scored against every tier and association. It is the fastest way to understand where you sit relative to everyone else looking at the same player.

Two things worth reading there. If your cell is the lowest number in a grid full of high ones, your program is simply the most demanding environment on the board for this player — not a warning, but useful context. And if the entire grid is strong, expect competition: a player who fits well nearly everywhere will be hearing from a lot of programs.

If your number looks wrong for your program

Check Settings → Profile. Your association, division and tier drive the calculation, and a program registered at the wrong level will get a consistently wrong headline number.
